Grief Support Resources

While moments of grief occur in everyone's life, the death of a loved one can cause significant emotional pain and trauma. This trauma is far worse for people who have witnessed their loved ones pass on, for example, due to an accident or prolonged illness. If overlooked, grief could lead to deeper psychological issues or mental illnesses such as depression.

Grief Support

The grieving process can take so many forms; you don't know how you'll react or feel until you're experiencing it. There are no wrong or right ways to grieve. All you can do is try to cope with your feelings in a way that feels right to you.

Grief, loss, and bereavement support groups are vital resources for those who have lost loved ones because they can connect with others going through a similar grieving process. For example, a parent who has lost a young child would seek out a support group where others with a similar loss gather and share their feelings. These groups provide those grieving the opportunity to interact with others and share their feelings and emotions in a safe, supportive space.

Grief Support Resources

Our experienced professionals are always available if you have questions or need grief support. However, we understand that support from friends and family may not be enough - you may need additional assistance or support. Here are a few helpful resources for those who have recently lost a loved one:

  • Sesame Street's When Families Grieve: When Families Grieve uses tips, videos, stories, and guides to help children and their families communicate and express emotions throughout the grieving process. With time, the process of moving forward can begin and family can create happy moments together.

  • Memory Of: Memory Of allows you to celebrate the life and legacy of a loved one by creating a memorial website. These personalized websites can include eulogies, condolences, photos, and music that honor the deceased. It is a permanent way to share memories with family and friends across the world.

  • MISS Foundation: Founded in 1996, the MISS Foundation provides CARE (counseling, advocacy, research, and education) resources to families who have experienced the death of a child. The organization offers specifically-trained traumatic grief providers within communities as well as moderated forums providing 24/7 online support.

No one should have to experience grief alone. If you're having difficulty coping with grief, please reach out to friends, family, or a trusted resource and let them know that you need help and support. Grief is something no one should have to experience alone.
